Giving back in 2024
APRIL 22, 2024 : ANDY FREED
At Virtual, we believe that we have a responsibility to give back. This is why generosity is one of our core values. This year we’re proud to continue our efforts to engage our communities and help those in need through our Virtual Cares program and Social Impact Fund, which create opportunities for us as individuals and a company to show generosity in different ways.
In 2024 we will support our employees in completing 2,024 paid volunteer services hours. Staff members across our global offices will volunteer for causes and initiatives they are passionate about – from planting trees to helping build houses, serving food at homeless shelters, and participating in community events.
We’ll also come together as a company with organized efforts that contribute to our communities in meaningful and impactful ways. Here’s a snapshot of our corporate giving back initiatives for this year:
Earth Day Walk and Clean-up – April 22 and 23
In honor of Earth Day, employees will come together to enjoy the outdoors and help the environment. We will take a break from our desks for a community walk and a dedicated clean-up effort around neighboring trails and roads.
Jimmy Fund Day at Fenway Park – May 17
Once again, the Virtual team will join former client Bob Russo (PCI Security Standards Council) at Fenway Park to help “strike out cancer.” Jimmy Fund Day is a truly special event that we look forward to every year – a chance both to give back and have fun. Virtual staff, friends and family donate to the Jimmy Fund and get to bat and field at Fenway Park, with every swing helping “kick cancer’s ass.” The event is part of a multi-year fundraising effort to support Dana-Farber’s mission to defy cancer by accelerating science, care, and expertise.
Elf Program – December
A longstanding tradition at Virtual, the Elf Program is a fun way for employees to donate money to charities of their choice during the month of December. Over the years our “Elves” have donated to Pine Street Inn, Ronald McDonald House, Boston Children’s Hospital, American Brain Tumor Association, and many others.
AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellowship
Through Virtual’s Social Impact Fund, in 2024 we continue our support for the AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellowship (MPF) at Northeastern University. MPF helps schools, city agencies and non-profit organizations provide mental health, academic enrichment and career programs for youth in underserved communities.
“Generosity is important for all of us – individuals and companies alike. That’s why it’s one of our corporate values at Virtual. Our Virtual Cares program and Social Impact Fund help us put this value into action by providing opportunities for all of us to give back in meaningful ways when and where we can. I’m excited to see the impact we can make in 2024 together.”
