Seasoned Talent and Culture Creation Executive to Lead Virtual’s People and Culture Team

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – November 4, 2019 — Virtual, Inc., the leading provider of professional services to technology consortia and professional societies, announced the addition of Bonnie J. Bystrek as the company’s first chief people officer (CPO), reporting directly to Virtual CEO Andy Freed. Bystrek brings nearly two decades of leadership and success with various Fortune 500 companies as well as leading financial services, technology, and healthcare companies to Virtual, where she will drive the company’s ambitious culture and human capital initiatives to accelerate the company’s recent and continued expansion.

Most recently, Bystrek served as a vice president of Human Resources at Steward Health Care, where she oversaw the business and cultural transformation of a 2,300-person Boston-based hospital. Before joining Steward, she was part of the Global Exchange senior leadership Fintech team at State Street as vice president of Human Resources. Prior to State Street, Bystrek worked for the Tower Group Companies, a publicly held specialty insurance company, as vice president of Human Resources.

Bystrek holds a Master of Science degree in Human Resources from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Organizational Behavior from the University of Connecticut. She is an active member of the Human Resources Leadership Forum (HRLF) program committee and has joined Northeastern University as an adjunct faculty member of their Human Resources graduate program. Bystrek is also a member of the Northeast Human Resources Association (NEHRA) and Women in the Enterprise of Science & Technology (WEST). Bystrek also holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI).
